I’m Leah! I am a junior at University of Maryland and hail from
Long Island, New York. I am currently a double major in Dance and Psychology.
I have worked at Camp Ramah Nyack for several years and love working with
children. I will be teaching K/1 this year. We will be learning things like the Alef-Bet, Holidays, and even a little bit
about Eretz Yisrael. I look forward to meeting you all!

Hi! My name is Lauren Palmere and I will be teaching the second grade class. This is my second year working here
and I am looking forward to it. I am currently a senior at Univeristy of Maryland
working towards a degree in Family Science and Special Education. I am from Voorhees, New Jersey where I was very
active in my synagogue. I attended heberew school before and after my Bat Mirzvah. During my last year of highschool I was
an aide for several students in Hebrew School classes. I look forward to
joining the MSJE family and meeting all the second graders!!

Nurit Sharon - 3rd Grade - Kitah Gimel

everyone,
I hope that you had an amazing summer! I'm Nurit Sharon and this will be my 7th year at MSJE. I enjoy teaching
very much and look forward to another great year! I am an ESOL teacher and have taught English in Japan
for two years (at all levels). Additionally, I taught Hebrew to Ethiopians in Israel and am a Hebrew tutor. My
family is from Israel so I grew up loving
Hebrew and Israeli culture. I enjoy singing in Hebrew, Israeli dancing, and eating Israeli food. In 3rd grade
we will be learning beginning Hebrew conversation, singing Hebrew songs, and doing some Hebrew reading. In addition, we will
also learn about Jewish holidays and Bible Stories. I am glad to be working at MSJE and am sure that this will be a
great and fulfilling year, just as the others were!

Ehud Hakakian - 4th Grade - Kitah Daled
Shalom Lekulam. My name is Ehud Hakakian and I am very excited to meet you and your kids. I am currently enrolled in
Montgomery College. I live in Potomac, Maryland and attended
a Jewish orthodox school called Melvin J Berman Hebrew Academy. After graduating , I decided to go to Israel for a year and enrolled in a program called Young
Judea. My year abroad really was a growing experience from which I learned how to be a responsible and independent
person. My life experience and knowledge of Judaism and Israel will be a great resource in the classroom and I hope
I will be able to share my experiences and knowledge with my class this year.

Jennifer Schwarz - 5th Grade - Kitah Hey
Hi! My name is Jennifer Schwarz and I'm very excited to be teaching the 5th grade this year. I was born and raised
in Rockville, MD and attended Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation in Bethesda Maryland. After
graduating from Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, I took a gap year to study and volunteer
in Israel on Young Judaea Year Course. Now I am a sophmore at the University of Maryland. I
am excited to share my love of Hebrew and Israel with the kids. Looking forward to meeting you and your kids and doing
some great things in the 5th grade class

Aaron Shapiro - 5th Grade -

Hi! Shalom! Hola! Hamjambo! My
name is Aaron Shapiro and I'm ecstatic to be teaching 5th grade with MSJE. I graduated high school at the Charles
E. Smith Jewish Day School and am now a junior at the University of Maryland, College Park. I'm studying Global Health
and International Development & Conflict Management. I've spent the last three summers working in East
Africa and love teaching both there and here (in Swahili, English, and Hebrew). I'm looking forward to a great semester of fun and learning in the
classroom.

Micah Chervin - 6th Grade - Kitah Vav
Hey everyone! My name is Micah Chervin. I am currently a third
year Philosophy and Jewish Studies major at the University of Maryland.
I am from Atlanta, Georgia and attended the Weber School. Through my life-long attendance of Jewish day school
as well as Jewish summer camp at Ramah Darom I've gained a very solid
grasp of Hebrew, Jewish religious customs, as well as Jewish thought. The second semester of my senior year of high school
was spent in Israel where I captured a truly new and nuanced understanding
of the Judaics I had learned in the years prior. This is my second year teaching at MSJE. I'm looking forward to getting
to know all your 6th graders and I'm confident that this year will be fun, productive, and enjoyable. Micah

Felice Kobilinsky - 7th Grade - Kitah Zayin
This is my seventh year teaching the 7th grade at MSJE. I attended yeshiva day schools in New York City, Brooklyn College where
I majored in Judaic Studies. Since moving to the Maryland
area in 1993, I have taught at several Religious schools in the area. My 3 children attended and graduated MSJE. Jewish
education is very important to me, and I am looking forward to working with this class this year. Happy and Healthy New

Ben Goldberg - 7th Grade - Kitah Zayin
My name is Ben Goldberg and I am the 7th grade teacher! I am from St. Louis, Missouri, and
have had lots of experience previously working with Jewish kids. I've served as a camp counselor, a tutor, and
have been actively involved with the Big Brother/Big Sister program for 7 years. I've had an amazing time teaching at MSJE
last year as a substitute, and can't wait to continue this year with the 7th grade.

Mira Haberfeld - Resource Teacher
Hi! My name is Mira and I will be a resource teacher
this year at MSJE! I am from Sacramento
California and am currently a junior at the University of Maryland. I attended Jewish day school through 7th grade, and spent a year studying in Jerusalem
at Midreshet HaRova. I am now studying Psychology and neuroscience
and plan to move to Israel after I graduate. Through my participation in
the B’nei Akiva youth movement, summers working at Camp Moshava, and
wonderful experiences learning and traveling in Israel I have developed a very strong connection and love for Judaism and
Eretz Yisrael. I love working with children and I am really looking forward to getting to know all of the
kids at MSJE and sharing this with them!

Eli Bilmes - Music Teacher
Shalom! My name is Eli Bilmes,
and I am a junior psychology major at the University of Maryland. I am the music teacher this year! I have been playing music since I was
seven years old, and have worked with children at Jewish summer camps for
the past four summers. This past summer, I was Rosh Muzika (head of music) at camp! I attended Jewish day school through 10th grade and spent a year in Israel on a Young Judaea program after high school. I look forward to sharing my love of Judaism with your
children through music!
