Maryland School for Jewish Education (MSJE) is a private organization whose principal
purpose is to provide a Jewish education for the children of its members. Membership requires having a child
registered as a student in the school.
As a Jewish educational institution, the MSJE is primarily devoted to teaching the students about the essentials of being
Jewish and instill in them a sense of pride. The students are taught about their Jewish heritage, customs, and traditions.
The MSJE recognizes that no Jewish education is complete without familiarity with Hebrew. It therefore provides students
with a basic reading knowledge of Hebrew.
The MSJE recognizes that its students have inherited Jewish tradition, and Jewish laws on morality, conduct, customs,
and ceremonies, all bound together by the thread of Jewish history. It recognizes above all the desire to assure the preservation
of this tradition by handing it down from its members through the students to succeeding generation. To fulfill this desire,
its course of study is intended to give the students an appreciation of this tradition and a sense of responsibility to the
next generation. The MSJE also seeks to confer on each student the symbol of their inheritance of this tradition. To this
end, the school prepares the student to conduct a personalized Bar/Bat Mitzvah.
MSJE admits students of any race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs,
and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis
of race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies and other school-administered
programs.
